The Forthcoming sensation from Slovenia

Band promotion on a forum is an easy and quite common thing to do. Create an account, create a topic, post a song or two, a Myspace link, and at least half the time, don’t ever come back to collect the reactions. Being a reader and seeing bands promoting is a common thing that happens. You read (or not), half the time you don’t have the time to click on the link(s), when you do, sometimes you push it to leaving a comment, and most of the time, that’s it.
And there’s what happened with SKYLINE. On both sides, you didn’t get your common forum-promotion thingy. The band took the time to respawn and comment, and I, as a reader, took the time to click on the link and offer an interview to an unknown, unsigned band without even an EP. Now read and click on the links at the bottom of the page, and prepare to be impressed!

1) Could you introduce the band to our readers

SkyLine: SkyLine is a young metal band from Slovenia, inspired by the likes of Edguy, Avantasia, Hammerfall, etc. The band was born in 2011, when the group previously known as Xerror, decided to give it a go and start again: with a new name and style. While they were known for their glam rock style as Xerror, now they are trying to spread the word of power metal as SkyLine.
The band is a group of five young, ambitious guys, united by the same reasons - love for music, love for stage, love for each other and especially - POWER METAL. That said, each band member contributes something unique to the group, with each of us having different background, different prospect, different qualities, but none lack of ambition.
The aim is to break the ice with our original music, and become internationally known. The band's line up consists of Martin Kolman on drums, Luka Osterc on lead guitar, Aljaž Toplak on bass guitar, Andraž Vovk on keyboards and Klemen Kelih as their lead vocalist.

2) What would you say distinguishes SKYLINE from other power metal bands?

The first thing that comes to mind is not only our youth, but also our style, which is a lot more keyboard-oriented than most other power metal bands.

3) When and how the change from glam/hard rock to power metal did happen?

It was early 2011 when band Xerror broke up. Not long after, Martin Kolman (the drummer) came up with an excellent proposal; as Klemen Kelih (vocalist), previous keyboardist and back-vocalist became a very good singer during the years, having spent a lot of time training his voice, getting much wider range and more power metal suited color of voice than previous singer Andraž Vovk (keyboardist) who also played piano for many years, he suggested a switch between the two, change of style and convinced a friend Aljaž Toplak (bassist) to start playing bass.
As all of us listened to power metal (some of the guys have already been listening to it for a long time) we really liked it, and it soon became everyone's favourite. From then it was never a question of yes or no, it was simply a question of when do we realize that great idea. That happened in the summer of 2011.

4) Many bands/projects are already called “Skyline”, aren’t you afraid of any problems that could occur because of that?

Honestly, that question has never crossed our minds before. First we must work hard and practice a lot if we want people to know about us, and if that happens, who's there to stop us from becoming THE SkyLine.

5) Can we expect you changing your name to, let’s say, “SkyLine of Fire”?

Should we encounter any problems regarding the name of the band, anything is possible... not anytime soon though.

6) When you say, on your Facebook page, “ambitious”, what do you mean?

We have set our goals very high, and are prepared to do anything in order to reach them. With the right mentality, a lot of work, practice and sacrifice we know we can make it happen.

7) You’ve just played Metalcamp. How did you feel before hitting such a major stage?

Well any 2nd stage artist that tells you there was no stage fright present is a liar, but beside that, there was also a lot of enthusiasm and a bit of anxiety.

8) How did you prepare for such an event?

The only way we know how - practice, practice, practice...

9) I heard about you on the Edguy/Avantasia forums, on how many forums did you register to promote your band?

We've registered on four forums in one year.

10) When can we expect an EP or an album?

There is an album being recorded even as we speak, so we hope to release it late 2012 or early 2013.

11) Do you have one final word for the readers at La Guilde du Métal?

Stay tuned and expect a lot more to come from SkyLine. Long live power metal!
